Choreographers Naishi Wang and Jean Abreu reunite for Deciphers

Deciphers, is an international collaboration between choreographers Naishi Wang and Jean Abreu. Ahead of the production’s inaugural tour in Canada, in January 2024, the artists share their last stages of the R&D process in the UK this Autumn.

Created by Naishi Wang (Canada/China) and Jean Abreu (UK/Brazil), Deciphers is a new dance duet exploring themes of translation, post-colonial stories and migrant experiences, investigating how the body can be used as an extraordinary tool of linguistic expression.

See below for more details of our series of artists talks, work in progress sharings and professional classes as part of this research phase.

Deciphers is a co-production of The CanDance Network Creation Fund, Montreal Arts Interculturels, The Harbourfront Centre, National Arts Centre Canada and PuSh Festival, supported by the Canada Council for the Arts. This creation period is supported by Arts Council England National Lottery, Fabric, South East Dance, Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival & Dance City.
